The Northern Spotted Owl is one of the largest owls located in North America with a road to extinction because of the abolishment of the forests. With the declining habitat of the forests, the spotted oil also has a decline in population. The decaying timber in the forest has nested rich plants and invertebrate life created by in the cavities of old trunks that feed the owls and give them the nutrients they need. This forest has caused a huge debate focusing on forest management for lands in the Pacific Northwest.
By stopping destroying the old-growth forests, the spotted owls could be saved and other benefits like environmental, educational, and cost benefits could occur. Continuing to demise the old-growth forest isn’t Just harming the owls, but harming the whole ecosystem. The ecosystem contains plants, animals and also humans who depend on its habitat. Not only would the spotted owl save its own habitat but will also save many of other living things relying on the environment. Many factors play a role in the improving of agriculture, clean water for cities, fishing, nd making the greenhouse effect better.
The educational aspect of the environment could improve opportunities for education for advancement in America. Studying the trees, plants and animals could lead to new discoveries and maybe eventually led to life changing elements. There really are no cost benefits for saving the spotted owls, but it could save money from cutting down the trees and destroying the habitat. Destroying the habitat could kill of millions and millions of animals and plants which s far worse than having Jobs vanish when there is still more opportunities out there.
The depletion of the forests all around America can really cause a huge problem in the future generations ahead. Not only will the animals begin to die off but also the nutrients needed for our daily lives will be abolished and that could cause trouble for many reasons. By not destroying the old-growth forests, the spotted owl could continue being a huge contribution to the ecosystem and the environment needed for plants and animals can continue to strive.
