Gun Control

Gun Control

AML Gun Control Gun Control is People Control For years gun ownership in America has been an extremely debated topic. Parties on both sides of the spectrum have argued why their beliefs are correct and should be implemented or not in today’s day and age. The Four Fathers of the United States long ago decided that “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. ” (Constitution) Gun control policies implemented by the U. S. government that affect law abiding citizens’ right to own a gun should be rescinded and terminated.

There have been many recent tragic events taking place, causing many people to question current gun control policies. However, throughout history if we should have full background checks on people who buy guns and place gun control on guns for where and who they are being sold to. Gun free zones don’t lower crime rates or prevent mass shootings, so what do they do? Gun control allows self-centered politicians to exercise control over law abiding citizens through unconstitutional legislation that paves the way towards eroding the Bill of Rights at large. The attacks on the Second Amendment should concern you, ven if you do not own a gun.

The attacks on the Second Amendment will attack the full Constitution. For example, if the government can override the Second Amendment, why can’t they override any Amendment? The government responds to the events that the media broadcasts of the mass shootings in schools and movie theaters by blaming only guns. Anthony Gucciardi states that “former Obama Administration member Dan Bongino stated it correctly when he explained in a passionate speech that gun control is not about controlling guns. ” (1) It is about controlling people. Gucciardi argues that it isn’t logical to think that destroying the

Second Amendment and eroding our rights to own a weapon will not cause a political domino effect that leads to the dismantling of our Bill of Rights. It’s instead an emotional response that says to ban the guns without logical thought. Anthony Gucciardi demonstrates that: “You’re not supposed to ponder on why Batman shooter James Holmes traveled out of his way to the one movie theater that did not allow attendees to bring in their legal concealed carry weapons. You’re not supposed to ask about the fact that the Sandy Hook shooting occurred in one of the most extreme ‘gun free’ zones in the nation.

You’re especially not supposed to investigate into why Columbine shooter Dylan Klebold was so afraid of the looming concealed carry law in the area. Instead, you’re supposed to emotionally react to the issue of guns. And from that reaction, your response is not supposed to be logical but emotional. ” (1) Government isn’t the solution to our problem, government is the problem. This can also be referenced to when we talk about gun control and crime in Detroit, Michigan. Detroit has the second highest murder rate in the nation and it is mainly considered to be the most dangerous city in the United States.

The solution to opposite. The government tried gun control as a solution to controlling crime in Detroit but that miserably failed. Steve Curtis states “the reason is quite simple. Criminals don’t obey laws, register their guns, or bother getting permits. ” (1) The government and people still believe that if we implement gun control and force background checks before you are able to buy a gun that there will be less crime. In Kennesaw Georgia, all citizens are required to own at least one firearm and keep ammunition. As a result of this, Kennesaw has the lowest crime rate of any city its size in America.

According to FBI crime statistics Kennesaw Georgia hasn’t had a fatal shooting in twenty five years since March 1982. Also another example that shows there is no need to implement gun control is in Switzerland. Every male between 20 and 42 in Switzerland is part of the national military and they are required to have their fully automatic weapons and ammunition at home, once they aren’t on duty. Switzerland has more firepower per person than any other country in the world and yet it is said to be one of the safest countries in the world.

An example of how more guns equals less crime is in John Lott’s book More Guns, Less Crime. John Lott is best known for his role in the gun rights debate, in particular his arguments against restrictions on carrying and owning guns. In his book Lott shows that communities where law abiding citizens are armed usually have the lowest crime rates. In contrast those with the most restrictive gun laws might have less gun killings but the overall crime rate is higher than it was before. For example, Britain took the guns away fifteen years ago which tripled the overall violent crime rate.

The guns taken away were machine guns, semi-automatic, pump-action rifles, and any firearm that has a barrel less than thirty centimeters. There have been many leaders throughout history that use their power oppressively or unjustly. These leaders are called tyrants. For example, Hitler, Stalin, Castro, and many other tyrant leaders took guns away from the citizens which became a very bad decision in regards to the citizens’ safety. People believe that the federal government of the United States should not overstep its boundaries and interfere with our cherished rights.

Also another reason why people believe the government shouldn’t take away their semi- automatics rifles and shouldn’t have gun control is because the federal government as been known to tap our phones, buy 1. 6 billion bullets, armored vehicles and armed predator drones which are deployed in the United States. These drones deployed in the United States, for example in North Dakota, were used to arrest a family of sovereign citizens in an effort to avoid a standoff shooting over some missing cows. Together as citizens of the United States we have a reason to think why we are being watched by the government when we are supposed to be free.

People with an alternate view believe that the government should take away semi- automatic rifles and place gun control on guns and people because of the incidents hat happened in the Virginia Tech shooting, the Sandy Hook shooting, and the Aurora movie theater shooting. They have the idea that if we take away semi- automatics along with gun control on guns and citizens we will have less violence and killings happening because people wouldn’t have guns and there will be total control with the government and police protecting over the people.

This could be that by taking away the guns yes there can be a drop in crimes committed with guns but the overall crime rate will rise. For example, in Mexico, there is strict gun control nd a total gun ban from citizens; you cannot own a gun in Mexico. As a result Mexico has the highest crime rate in the world with fifty seven thousand people killed in the last five years. In contrast Switzerland has guns for everyone and it has the lowest crime rate in Europe.

Also a main example is in the Philippines, where the President Ferdinand Marcos placed gun control on guns and citizens of tracking people who had guns by requiring to be registered as a gun owner. A year later Ferdinand Marcos made himself dictator, declared martial law and all of the guns the citizens had were confiscated. He went on to become the dictator of the Philippines from 1965 to 1986. (1) Ferdinand then gave the people of the Philippines two weeks to turn in their guns or then the consequence would be the death penalty. Gun Control does not work.

The number one cause of mass murder and death throughout world history has been tyrannical government. We have seen time and time again throughout history that once guns are taken out of the hands of the People, governments engage in the mass murder of innocents. As Mike Adams says those who argue for gun control don’t open their eyes and fail to realize that by disarming the citizens, it will lead directly to a concentration of power in the hands of evil government officials who use that power to exterminate or control millions of innocent people. (1) Governments are the number one cause of (non-natural) death in the world. When Obama signed the NDAA our government became a rogue government, one that takes away citizens’ rights. For example, Mike Adams in his article R. I. P. Bill of Rights 1789-2011 talks about the President’s signing of the National Defense Authorization Act, a law was passed that “grants the U. S. military the “legal” right to conduct secret kidnappings of the U. S. itizens, followed by indefinite detention, interrogation, torture and even murder.

This is all conducted completely outside the protection of law, which doesn’t have a Jury, a trial, a legal representation and not even any requirement that the government produce evidence against the accused. In what will be remembered as the most traitorous executive signing ever committed against the American people, President Obama signed the bill on New Year’s Eve, a time when most Americans were engaged in the consumption of alcohol. It seems appropriate, since no intelligent American could accept the tyranny of this ill if they were sober.

Since 1900, over 260 million people have been mass murdered by the government all due to gun control. (1) Mike Adams states that “most Americans don’t yet believe what’s really happening because they are naive. TheyVe grown up in a “polite” society and they actually believe government is trying to help people. ” (1) It is often said that “guns don’t kill people, people kill people. ” The Second Amendment was put in the Constitution so the citizens would have the ability if their government became oppressive, they can defend themselves against an oppressive government. A gun is a tool; it doesn’t go off shooting on its own.

Jesse Ventura an American politician states as an example that automobiles kill people from those who decide to drive drunk, but we don’t go to the car dealer company saying to stop up to one hundred miles per hour which can kill people if used incorrectly, but there are people that decide guns should be taken away because they kill people as well. There is a need for guns in the world to protect ourselves from enemies or a tyrannical government. Many notable characters throughout history have noted how they felt about guns. One of these important characters is Thomas Paine.

Thomas Paine believed that there is a need for guns in order to protect ourselves, because people are born with free-will. He also states that government, which acts as a necessary evil, is vital in maintaining order in society. Thomas Paine states that “arms like laws discourage and keep the invader and the plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property. “(l) If we are ever denied the right to access or own guns, our rights and liberties as American citizens may be in danger.
