Thiensville Math Autobiography Hi there Mrs.. Tyler! For starters I am very excited that it’s your first year teaching at Wade Hampton High, and I get to be a part of it! Okay well now that I have gotten that out of me, I would love to tell you about me and my history with math. I was born and raised in Dallas, Tx for about 10 years and then I moved to Greenville, Sc towards the end of 6th grade. The neighborhood that I was raised in wasn’t a good one and my parents didn’t want that for me growing up an being influenced by it so we decide to pack our stuff and move here!
Although everything over in Dallas wasn’t all that bad, I loved the church that I went to, I felt comfort and safe there and I had plenty of friends to relate and connect with. I can’t say that I don’t regret moving because I am now in a better environment and Greenville is Just a very good place to grow and expand yourself even though there isn’t much to do around here, it’s still an interesting place be around. I am very active and I love to explore everything around me. Life is full of interesting little facts that you have to put together to see the big picture” my mom once said.

I admire her a lot because a mother knows her daughters pain and thoughts because she was once me, and she is the bests friend that I could ever ask for. In 7th grade I had an amazing math teacher named Mr.. Jones, he was an incredible teacher towards me and everyone else. Even though there’s days where he’s cranky and upset, he still makes it so easy for us to understand him and what he’s teaching. If you don’t believe me, which I have given you no reason not too ! But I eased his class with a 100, and I’m hoping to experience that feeling and excitement again in your class, like the day I got my report card.
Now for the worst. My 8th grade year I was in algebra 1 honors, and I didn’t have such a great teacher. He was an Asian teacher named Dry. Hew. He was very difficult to understand and when I would come to him for help I still didn’t get the concept of the lesson and what he was teaching. I struggle throughout his class the whole year and I Just was never on track. Even though I passed his class with an 88, it shocked me when he told me that e was going to hold me back in Algebra 1 again for high school.
I wasn’t the happiest girl at the moment knowing that you have to go through it again knowing that you’ve tried your best to survive. After that year I wasn’t so sure that math was one of my favorite subject anymore since I have failed it. It was a very bad experience for me, but you learn from your mistakes. I really don’t have a learning style that I use to help me learn especially in math, because to me it Just comes to me like what I have to do to solve this to get to that, and stuff like that. But when I am doing homework and trying to figure things out music is very helpful when it comes to it.
Of course it’s not like that all the time but it keeps my mind and head out of other things and focus better. Like right now while I’m writing this paper at 10:45 pm on Sunday night, music is playing in the background and my fingers are Just moving nonstop on the keypad! When it comes to group work, projects, or other stuff I usually work better when I have 5 brains working at the same pace than one person behind another on notes and stuff that their rack right away and not know what to do and where to start.
While in class I take a lot of notes even if it isn’t on the board I will write what’s very important to me that will help me have a better understanding at the concept then Just take notes and not have a complete understanding on the subject. Since you are new here at Wade Hampton High then I as your student will not set the bar high on my expectations for you to know how to run and control the new things to you and how its like at WHISH.
But I do have a high expectation for you as my tat teacher, because I don’t want to go through those dark days again where I don’t understand anything and not have useful help. I know that you will strive to do your best to help us and teach us with no problem, and in return I will strive to my best to do the same for you as my teacher. Well to wrap this paper up I would like to say that you will do great this year with our help and with your help we will too. I’m looking forward to this class a lot since it is one of my favorite subject so don’t disappoint me Mrs.. Tyler!
